Eduardito Sends Big Hugs!

Recently, I received a letter from Eduardito.  He is sponsored through Compassion by Cycle4Compassion.

This is what Eduardito wrote with the help of his tutor.

My Christian Learning

I learn about God at my project
What year did you accept God in your heart? 2012
My favorite bible story is Noah's Ark
My favorite bible verse is Psalm 23:1
What is your favorite song to sing at the project? A little star in the sky I saw.
What I have learned about Jesus and I like the most is: He helps me.
When I pray to Jesus I do it for my family.
Who is your favorite character from the Bible? Samson

Dear sponsor Elisabeth, your child Eduardo sends you a big hug.  He wants to thank you for your pictures, your letters, stickers, the letter yellow page, and the envelope.  Eduardo says that he is fine with his mother and brother.  His mother works by selling food in a cafeteria near the swimming pools of town.  He says that he would like you to pray that his mother does well with her sales.  He tells you at the kindergarten parade he dressed up as a bear.
Love,
your child,
Eduardo

Pupusas

Pupusas are a traditional Salvadoran food.  My sweet Eduardito (Mainor) mentioned that he enjoys eating them during the Independence Day celebration.  When I saw the recipe in an El Salvador info booklet, I couldn't resist trying it!

They were a lot of fun to make, and I plan on making them every once in a while. :)

First you need masa harina (it's similar to corn flour)....or corn meal.  I used corn meal.  You also need warm water and filling (meat and/or cheese).

2 cups masa harina
1-1.5 cups warm water
meat/cheese
salsa/sour cream

Mix the masa harina with water.

The dough needs to be mold-able.  Add more water than you think you need.  You'll be happier with the result.

Roll a bit of the dough into a gold ball sized ball.  Then carefully press the center into a bowl shape.

Fill the "bowl" with meat and cheese.  Fill it completely.  (I use about 3 times as much filling as shown total.)

Then, push the dough back together, covering the filling.  Press it out to about one-quarter inch thick.

Do everything with your hands.  Don't set the pupusas down.

Then place in a pre-heated skillet.  I can cook one side in the time it takes for me to make another pupusa, maybe 3-4 minutes.  Check it.  It should be kinda crispy and the cheese should be melted.  Then flip it and cook for the same amount of time on the other side.

After they have finished cooking, eat them with salsa or sour cream.

Have you made a food from your sponsored child's country?

Answering questions:

Dear sponsor Elisabeth, Mainor sends a hug and thanks for your letters and the folder with coloring pages of car and the stickers. He is well with mom and brother and he thinks it is not a nice place for having a baby and he doesn't like it.
(He is referring to Jesus' birth in the stable.)  He says he is thankful for life. Do you have pets? He asks your prayers for his mom business and thanks for the band-aids, with love, Mainor.

Because of your support, Mainor's life is changing.  He is being released from poverty.  Please consider helping this young boy!

Mainor- Part Two

Hello!

First of all, I want to thank you all soo much for your prayers for Mainor.  As you may have seen, I wrote that prayer is powerful.  And it is.  God tugged on someone's heart to sponsor this precious boy.  And she sponsored him.

I am now the proud sponsor of Mainor!!  All the kids always tug on my heart, they are all so cute.  But with Mainor, it was different.  Maybe it was because his mom works, so he is probably alone all day.  Or maybe it was because his house is made of dirt and mud, and it floods in El Salvador.  But one thing is for sure, it was God.

HAPPY FOURTH BIRTHDAY, MAINOR!!

While I have not collected all the money from my ride, once I collect it I will have around $548!  I will use $456 to sponsor Mainor.  I have not decided how I will donate the rest to Compassion, but I have some ideas.

Thank you so much for praying for a sponsor for Mainor.  Please keep praying for him, that God will bless and protect him.

Also, please keep praying for Sharmin.  Her sponsor has not found her yet.  But, I know that God has someone special in mind for her.  If you are that special person, e-mail me lizzie4compassion@gmail.com  I will let you know how to start your sponsorship.

Change a life!
Lizzie :)

Mainor

Hello!

Yesterday I received two precious children to find sponsors for.  Today, I am going to share with you a precious little boy.

Mainor
See that little boy?  Isn't he precious?  His name is Mainor.  He is almost four.  His birthday is the day I got baptized, September 30.  Mainor lives with his mom and two siblings.  His mom works as a laborer.  I wonder if he often stays home alone.  Mainor is too young to go to school.  In El Salvador, they usually start school when they are six.  He likes to play soccer.  And like any little boy, he likes to play with cars.

Mainor lives in the little country of El Salvador.  He lives in the mountains near San Lorenzo.  The houses are usually made of dirt floors, mud walls, and tile roofs.  I hope it doesn't rain too hard.

Mainor's community needs another school, employment opportunities, and drug and alcohol abuse prevention programs.  Parasites, respiratory diseases, and malnutrition are common health problems.  Mainor is blessed because he will have medical exams, health instruction, academic support, and Bible teaching, provided by Compassion.

Please consider sponsoring Mainor.  He has been waiting over seven months for someone like you to come along and sponsor him.  If you would like to know more about Mainor or sponsor him, please e-mail me at lizzie4compassion@gmail.com

Change his life,
Lizzie
