Mail Call!

Today I received a very exciting letter!

It was my first letter from Susana in Bolivia.  She shared that she was recently baptized and that she attends church.  She is also studying at university to become a physics and chemistry teacher!  She closed asking me to pray for her mom's health.

Also, my Elizabeth in Mexico graduated from Compassion recently!  I am so proud of her.  She's completed 11th grade.  Compassion didn't have any info on her future plans.  I expect that she will continue her education because her greatest wish is to have a profession.

Congratulations Elizabeth!

  1. That is exciting! And Congragulations Mabel!! She is so beautiful! So I guess they only go up to the 11 grade in other countries or what? My Dayana in Peru finished her 11th gr in Dec and graduates from Compassion in Oct. that always confused me a little I guess I was thinking they wouldn't graduate until 12 grade.

    1. Thanks! :) I believe that Elizabeth started school late because the grade levels are written to be equivalent with the US grade system. Depending on the country, the child might be required to grad out of Compassion before 22. In Mexico, the kids age out at 18. That is why Elizabeth graduated even tho she hasn't finished high school. I looked on the list on OC and it is the same in Peru - the kids usually finish up with Compassion by their 18th birthday. In Dayana's case tho, she will be super close to having finished high school too! :)

    1. I know, Emily :) Sometimes if the kids are waiting for a sponsor for a long time (Susana had waited 2.5 yrs) they will keep a first letter in the country office to ship out when the child finds a sponsor. I hope that you get a letter from Carolina soon!!! Thanks so much....I so hope that we can keep in touch! :)
