May 2011
Over the next little bit, I want to share the story of how I welcomed each of my kiddos into my Compassion family. For starters, let's begin with how I learned about Compassion.
It was May of 2011. The day started like usual, and little did I know that it would change my life forever. I got an e-mail from Compassion. It told me of children needing sponsors. I asked my mom to click the link to see the children. She told me I could. So, I did.
And there she was on the top right. Hymns was her name. She was four, I think. The Filipino girl in the cute pink dress had me coming back to ompassion's site day after day. I would just look at her picture all day if I could. She stole my heart, but I did not understand it. I wanted to sponsor her. I had no money and no income, so I did not. A short twelve days later on June 6, she was gone. I took no time e-mailing Compassion to see if she was sponsored. She was.
I can't say I felt bad about her being sponsored. I wanted to sponsor her myself, yes, but I did not think I could. I think that is okay though. I am sure that God has a plan for her life just like He does for mine. None-the-less, I told Compassion that if she is ever in need of a sponsor, I will pick her up and never let her go.
Stay tuned for Part 2: My Angel
But for now, would you find your own Hymns? And will you do me a favor? Sponsor her. It will change your life and hers!
I'm looking forward to Part 2! It's fun to hear about how you started sponsoring.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that Hannah. I was afraid I had shared that story too much! ;)
DeleteThanks for sharing your story - I haven't heard it before. I love the name Hymns : )
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to part 2.
Sure. I feel like this is the story is one I will never tire of telling! I have searched before, but I have never found a girl since with the name "Hymns."
DeleteThank you for sharing, Lizzie! I would have a hard time passing up a kid named Hymns, too! : ) I can't wait to read part 2!
ReplyDeleteYeah, now thinking back on Hymns, I don't think I could have passed her up now! Just praying she has a great sponsor. I will post part 2 this week! :)
