First, Kathy on OurCompassion shared a portion of a letter from her little sponsored boy in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Eduar lives with his little brother Mainor and their young mom. He said, "a big kid at school beat me up and broke my arm." Many other very terrible things are happening in this city, and it has been named the murder capital of the world. You can read more about this on this OC post (you must be a member to view it)- http://ourcompassion.org/sponsors/f/10/t/6586.aspx?pi239031352=1
Would you please, please, please pray for Eduar, Mainor, their mom, and everyone else in San Pedro Sula, Honduras? Will you pray for their safety and that God will give them peace? Will you pray for those who are initiating the violence? Will you pray that God will change their hearts and that He will change their ways?
Also, a friend of mine Kees is currently in Cochabamba. He is going to stay there for six months, visiting his sponsored children and helping in churches. His mom passed away a couple days ago. I can only imagine how hard it must be for him to be so far away from his dad and family at this time. Will you pray for comfort and peace for Kees, his dad, and all those who knew his mom? Will you also pray that his time in Bolivia will be blessed? And for his safety?
Thank you, friends!!
I will most certainly be praying for these requests. I hope that Eduar and all the other kids in Honduras stay safe- I can't imagine how I would feel if one of my sponsor kids wrote to me and shared something like that.
ReplyDeleteI will also be praying for your friend and his time in Bolivia. A friend of mine moved to Thailand a few weeks ago, and he had been there about 10 days when he learned his mother had died. He found that the kindness of the people in his new city was like medicine for the soul, and it really helped him get through this extremely difficult time. I pray your friend Kees experiences something similar!
Thanks, Jessi! Yes, I can't imagine what it must be like to have a sponsored child who lives in such a dangerous area. If you read the thread, Kathy shared said the same thing- she never thought it would be her child.
DeleteIt was the same with Kees, around ten days. He visited Bolivia often though, and he knows some people there really well. I am sure that the Body of Christ is praying for him there and here. Also, I don't really know him, but I read his OC posts and he sometimes writes for the Compassion blog.
I will be praying! Thanks for sharing these prayer requests.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hannah! I know God hears us :)
DeleteI will be praying! So sad to hear about Eduar. I've been out of town and I'm just catching up and hadn't read about that. So sad. And I had NO idea that area was so tough.
ReplyDeleteSonja, thanks a lot! Yes, I didn't know that either. And I am heartbroken that it should be so rough anywhere.
