The first one was from Mabel. She is 20 and lives in Bolivia.
Dear friend Elisabeth:
Hello, I like to get your letter, I am very well, it is very hot here and we cannot bear it. We have to take showers before going to school because the classroom is like a sauna but don't worry because there are ventilators. When we have recess time our hair gets dry, quickly my friends and I have to wet our hair again. It is good that you know how to swim, I don't know but I will learn.
You look great with short hair and it is good to help people who need (I cut ten inches off of my hair in June for Locks of Love), you have a good heart.
In our country there are 4 seasons too and we only have to learn more of our country because the weather is warm, hot, and cold. I hot places there are many fresh fruits, in warm places there are corn, rice, papaliza (possibly something like a potato), and in cold places quinoa, oca, potato, we call that papawayku in Quencha (native language) I only know that word in Quencha. I don't know a lot.
It is good to celebrate a birthday, you make that person happy, give a hug to your father from me.
I tell you my older sister celebrated her birthday on October 22nd and is 29 years old and the name of her baby is Nathali Michel Lima Veliz. I will send you photos of her family.

I don't know how badminton is played, my favorite song is "Al Taller del Maestro" (At the Workshop of the Master).
It is good you fish, you are a fabulous friend, that is a kind of rare fish (bass), it is the first time I saw that fish, the one you call mosquito (dragonfly) and is on your leg we call libelula, the mosquitoes for us are other kind.
It is good you are all the time with your family that is good luck.
Give them a strong hug of me, thanks for the regards of your church. It is great to have a camp with your family and I know riding bike, it is nice you have sisters, I only have three brothers but they make me angry too much but I love them and you.
Do they bother you too much? Do you have a good relation?
Yes, I gave my life to the Lord, but I was not baptized and I realize that is a communion with God and is a pact with God but I will be baptized at the beginning of the next year.
Don't worry, I thank you for your verses are so beautiful and encourage me all day long, thanks for your photos of the park (botanical gardens), I will draw that for my friend
Thanks for all, bye
Mabel.
The second letter was an introduction letter from Mainor! He was sponsored by cycle4compassion.

What a great letter from Mabel! So many details and personal exchanges. Her comment about her brothers made me laugh. : )
ReplyDeleteIt made me laugh too :)
Deletewonderful letters! I loved the pictures of her sister and niece! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I loved the pictures too :)
DeleteI loved both letters!! It's so neat that Mabel likes "Al Taller del Maestro"...it's a song by Alex Campos...he's my favorite artist!! (If you want to hear the song, check out this link: http://youtu.be/NhKuJ0BBfcg) And I love the photos that she sent you!! What a treasure!! And that's neat how much you learned about Mainor in his letter. As far as the siblings go, I know that Compassion only records the number of siblings under age 18. And sometimes Compassion is behind in recording new births (it took 2 years for one of my kid's siblings to be recorded) so maybe Mainor has a little brother or sister? Just thoughts!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to the song (I will listen to it once the baby wakes up!) :) Yes, the photos are a real treasure! It is possible that he has another sibling. I did not think of that. I think I will ask him more about his siblings when I write him.
DeleteHow wonderful to get 2 letters! Must be such an excitement, can't wait for my Compassion kids to start writing:)
